The European Commission's Directorate-General responsible for Education and Culture approved the Inception Report of the Interim Evaluation of the Lifelong Learning Programme conducted by PPMI. After the approval of the inception report, which detailed the proposed methodology, PPMI starts the implementation of its evaluation plan.

In the process of interim evaluation of the EU Lifelong Learning Programme over the period of 2007-2009, PPMI together with its partners and experts from other countries will analyse the entire Programme as well as its separate sub-programmes: Comenius, Erasmus, Leonardo da Vinci sub-programmes, Transversal and Jean Monnet programmes. The evaluation will cover such questions as to what extent do the EU Lifelong Learning Programme objectives remain relevant, how the Programme contributes to other EU policy areas and EU general objectives, how successful is the Programme in reaching the target groups and how do these evaluate the Programme, how efficient is the Programme's implementation and management structure, etc.  After evaluation of relevance, effectiveness and efficiency of the Programme, the project team will provide concrete recommendations on the implementation of the Programme till 2013 and its development in the successive period of 2014-2019. Moreover, PPMI will evaluate the monitoring system of the Programme and will provide recommendations on how to improve it.

The Interim Evaluation of the EU Lifelong Learning Programme - one of the largest projects currently implemented by PPMI. It involves partners and experts from more than 10 European states. In the process of research, the project team plans to conduct Europe-wide surveys with Programme's participant and representatives of institutions responsible for its implementation, intends to interview more than 100 representatives from national and EU institutions, agencies, main socio-economic partners, and non-governmental organisations. The evaluation will also include comprehensive case studies of concrete actions supported by the EU Lifelong Learning Programme.
